Intended learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this course unit be able to:

  1. Recognize the different sources of error associated to the measurement of physical quantities by electronic means, and the most common measurement techniques.
  2. Understand the most common signal transducing techniques, as well all the constituents of a signal measurement chain.
  3. Apply the concepts to practical situations of measurement of physical quantities and associated measurement systems.
  4. Design a measurement system for any physical quantity, from the transducer element to the signal acquisition and processing. The techniques of reduction of electromagnetic interference and other error sources like noise, and linearization should be taken into account.
  5. Write reports describing the proposed solutions and where experimental results are analyzed and compared and decisions are justified.
